Home CareThe Wider hospital Bed; when a hospital bed is needed why would anyone want to be stuck in a standard 36" wide bed? That is what the Industry offers and most likely the bed is not even made in the USA and has very limited positions. Many are only semi electric where the bed has to be cranked for a Hi Lo position.
We offer beds made for the average weight patient and the Bariatric patient as well; available in twin, full and queen size; 42" and 48" widths as well and extra lengths for the patient over 6 ft. with weight capacities up to 1000 lbs. The proper size bed is essential so the body can have a chance to rest properly. If spending more than the average 6 to 8 hours in your bed you should consider a wider bed that gives you the extra room that you may find desirable and easier to turn and move in bed.
Many challenged people use their bed as a work station as they are most comfortable because of the Cardio Chair position. The High-Low option to be able to get in and out of bed is the reason people need a hospital bed. When transferring from a Wheel Chair or Power Chair the height of the bed should be at least 2" lower than the chair that they are transferring from. We have a bed that is as low as 9" for the special patient and will rise to 24" than add the height of the mattress. This will give the patient a better quality of life and more independence, and the caregiver the extra help that is needed to care for their loved ones.
The frame is just the start; the proper mattress is just as important. You need a special mattress that will bend with the bed and will handle your special needs. You cannot make this kind of a decision without talking to someone that understands your needs and knows what is available in the Industry.

You may have a situation that you would like to be close to your spouse instead of in another room. There are Companion Beds that will be Adjustable Fixed Height beds that can sit right next to the hospital bed. This would be the best solution to keep things as normal as possible.
That is the advantage of the Transfer Master bed, it has all the bells and whistles of a hospital bed, but does not look like a hospital bed. Fits into any décor.
